A Letter from Mr. DePatis-

As we begin the 2017-2018 school year I want to welcome everyone to Virginia CUSD 64 and introduce myself.  As many of you know I started as the superintendent in July of this year.  This will be my 14th year as a superintendent in Illinois.  This is the fourth school district that I have been superintendent and each one of them has had the same school colors, red, white and black.  Which by the way are the same as the high school that I attended, Momence, IL.

I am excited to begin the next phase of my career here in Virginia.  I actually began my career in education, teaching in Cass County at Beardstown High School, where I taught math.  So I guess you could say I have come full circle and back to Cass County.

There are some changes coming for this year that everyone needs to be aware of as we begin the year.  One of those is that the students will not be able to enter the building before 7:30 AM and students should not be dropped off prior to that time.  When students are dropped off early it causes issues with supervision as well as students having to deal with the weather outside depending on the time of the year.  We greatly appreciate your assistance with this situation.

We also have several new teachers coming to Virginia this year and we want to welcome them all to the school district.  Please stop on August 15, 3:00-4:30 to the Meet the Teacher night at Dr. Ugs on the square.

I hope that the school year gets off to a great start for everyone and I look forward to working with you and your children.

It is a great day to be a Redbird!!
